FACILITY MAINTENACE TECHNICIAN
Term: Full-time (40 hrs./week)
Salary Range: $46,360 - $55,360 (Depending on education and experience)
The Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) is responsible for maintaining the Whitefish River First Nation (WRFN) public buildings, ensuring they meet legal requirements and health and safety standards. The FMT monitors and operates the HVAC systems. The FMT is responsible for the ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, including fire and security alarms. This role requires day-to-day coordination of building maintenance (reactive and preventive). The FMT works with the Facility Manager to manage all outside contractors supporting the office operations, including maintaining records and contracts, managing project activities, and coordinating contractor work schedules. The FMT is the primary contact for facility-related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
- General maintenance work, including drywall, taping, painting, insulation, vapor barriers, flooring, roofing, eavestroughs, downspouts, soffits, flashings, caulking, windows, man-doors, automatic door operators, roll-up door systems, and hardware; changing light bulbs, maintaining exterior property, snow removal, and manual repairs.
- Performs hands-on work in rough and finish carpentry, including cabinet making, framing, and trim.
- Maintain building and systems records, including but not limited to water system tests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a minimum of Grade 12 or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a Class G Ontario Drivers License, with access to a vehicle and theability to travel (Must submit a drivers abstract upon hire).
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience performing general building and operating systems maintenance and repairs.
- Thorough knowledge of building and operating systems, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair practices.
- Thorough knowledge of Workplace Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
- Current knowledge of applicable construction codes (ONT Building, ON Plumbing, Canadian Electrical).
SKILLS:
- A thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures and a skill set that includes basic proficiencies in some or all of the following: plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical/mechanical systems.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgment and personal initiative.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Excellent time management and task-tracking skills.
