About the Role:
The position is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of capital maintenance renewal projects across YMCA of Northern Alberta facilities. This position will primarily focus on capital maintenance and lifecycle renewal initiatives, while also supporting select capital development projects as required.
Responsibilities:
Service Delivery and Project Execution
- Lead planning, design, procurement, and construction activities for capital maintenance renewal projects.
- Support capital development projects as assigned.
- Develop detailed project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and procurement strategies.
- Prepare and coordinate tender documents and manage competitive bidding processes.
- Support and assist with the selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization of an Asset Management Software system to enhance lifecycle planning, capital forecasting, and maintenance tracking.
- Oversee consultants, contractors, and third-party vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
- Monitor and control project budgets, including forecasting and change management.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular project updates to leadership.
Health and Safety
- Champion a strong safety culture across all project sites.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and YMCA policies.
- Participate in safety inspections and audits.
- Address safety concerns proactively and ensure contractor compliance.
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and partners.
- Coordinate project activities to minimize operational disruptions.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities as required.
Administration
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and financial records.
- Prepare reports, briefing notes, and presentations as required.
- Support long-term capital planning initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- PMP designation considered an asset.
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience managing construction or facility renewal projects.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and construction practices.
- Experience in budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel between YMCA locations.
