This position works in the Water - Operations, Maintenance & Construction. This is supervisory technical work in planning, assigning, supervising and checking the work of subordinate foreperson and crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of Municipal water installations. The work also entails responsibility for coordinating the work with other internal or external operations, inspecting work to ensure adherence to Municipal standards and monitoring expenditures. Under the direction of a Superintendent, an incumbent exercises considerable initiative and independence of judgement and action within established guidelines referring unusual or policy matters to a superior who reviews work performance in terms of efficient and effective operation of the division. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by related technical courses, plus considerable related experience in a supervisory capacity, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the work; considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to the work and of the applicable departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and check the work of a number of subordinate foremen and crews and schedule maintenance and construction projects and provide emergency repairs; coordinate work with that of other Municipal crews, external contractors and utilities; assist with selecting, allocating, disciplining and motivating staff and in conducting performance evaluations of subordinate foremen and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to perform all duties with minimal supervision. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia. EOCP – Water Distribution Level III Certificate. The Foreperson 3 – Waterworks is required to accept stand-by and call-out work assignments.
SALARY:
$8,013 - 8,364 – 8,719/month (Pay Grade 24) (2024 rates)
$8,583 – 8,959 – 9,340/month (Pay Grade 24) (2026 rates)
EOCP Level 3 Premium: $3.00 per hour and Foreperson 3 who reports to work one-half (1/2) hour extra each day are eligible for early reporting pay.
