Position Overview
The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is currently inviting applications for a new full-time position working in our Fleet Division. The primary focus will be working as a Mechanic at least 4 days a week, sometimes all 5 days. There may be occasions when mechanical work is not needed, limited to no more than one day a week. If that occurs, the incumbent will be able to work as a Service Person (Transit Assistant) on such occasions in order to maintain full-time status. Additional details will be discussed during an interview.
The Mechanic provides scheduled maintenance and repairs of buses, trucks, automotive vehicles, and other equipment. The Service Person (Transit Assistant) cleans, washes, and pre-trips buses, performs routine servicing and maintenance on a variety of vehicles, maintains the repair shop and grounds, and performs cleaning, maintenance and installation work on bus stops and shelters. Compensation and Benefits
Full-time employees are provided with an excellent compensation and benefits package. In addition to your hourly rate of pay, immediately upon hire, our comprehensive benefit package is yours! This bargaining unit position is 37.5 hours per week, paid according to position worked:
- Estimated 4-5 days per week as Mechanic at $46.57 per hour
- Estimated 1 day (or less) per week as Service Person/Transit Assistant at $33.28 per hour
