About the RoleReporting to the Director, Parks + Recreation, the Deputy Director, Recreation Services + Facilities provides senior strategic leadership and operational oversight for the City’s Recreation Services and Facilities division. Accountable for achieving departmental and divisional outcomes while ensuring alignment with City objectives, policies, and regulatory requirements, this position works in close leadership partnership with the Director and Deputy Director of Parks, Policy and Planning to provide a unified vision and support for the department. A central priority includes co-leading the implementation of the recently adopted 10-Year People, Parks and Play Plan. The Deputy Director also contributes to corporate-wide decision-making and policy development while fostering a culture of community belonging centred on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. The City is seeking a proactive leader to guide a team in meeting the needs of a rapidly growing community, ensuring recreational services remain accessible, impactful and strategically aligned.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced recreation leader with strong operational expertise, strategic leadership capability, and the ability to build ePective relationships across a complex municipal environment to lead the Recreation Services and Facilities Division. The preferred candidate will hold a university degree in Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field, along with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive responsibility in recreation services, including significant supervisory and leadership experience. The ideal candidate will have completed supplemental courses or a certificate in business management, human resources, or leadership. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The salary for this position is $168,822 - $186,178 supplemented by a comprehensive compensation and benefits plan
