THE POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Customer Experience, the Customer Services Specialist leads the collaborative effort to identify learning needs for all customer groups. Oversees development, implementation and evaluation of FVRL customer focused initiatives, events, and programs, including The Playground. Liaises with library and community agencies. Makes recommendations to create or change customer service related policies and procedures. Prepares reports, grant and award applications.

- Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in exceptional customer service skills. Ability to see things from the customer perspective.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development and evaluation of customer services including programs, products and initiatives for diverse communities. Ability to articulate FVRL’s mission, vision and values in order to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated ability in project management, including planning and implementing projects, writing business cases and grant proposals, developing outcome measures and collecting data.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with FVRL staff, customers, community and external service providers.
- Strong research and networking skills to stay informed of new trends, developments, and best practices in delivering exceptional customer service.
- Strong planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, show initiative, flexibility and creativity, exercise good judgement, and act with tact and courtesy.
- Demonstrated experience working with, and providing input into policies and procedures. Preparing guidelines, processes, reports and statistical data.
- Demonstrated proficiency and interest in using a variety of digital devices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school or equivalent library degree.
- Management certificate from a recognized institution, or equivalent.
- Minimum of four years experience working as a Librarian, including 2 years of experience in a supervisory role and 2 years of experience in library operations.
- Valid B.C. Driver's Licence (minimum level ‘N’).
- Criminal Record Check is required.
