SCOPE
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance and Operations, the Chargehand Plumber will perform varied trades work of a performs work of a complex nature, supervises crews performing plumbing trade work, provides supports to senior staff related to building maintenance, and construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of crews involved in plumbing trade work, including construction, maintenance and building control of City facilities and buildings.
- Assist senior staff with planning and directing work.
- Supports crew members in installing, repairing, and maintaining various plumbing systems.
- Performs other job duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates under consideration will have the following:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Considerable related experience in supervision, building maintenance and construction.
- Plumbing Trades Qualification required.
- Class B Gas Fitter Certification required.
- Valid BC. Driver's License with safe driving record.
- Surrey Police Services Reliability Security Clearance required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to plan, organize, instruct, direct, and supervise work projects and work within budget requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of building maintenance includes standard practices, principles, techniques, materials, and equipment used in the plumbing trade.
- Thorough knowledge of plumbing systems and swimming pool equipment.
- Thorough working knowledge of the B.C. Plumbing Code and related codes.

Hourly Rate: $48.66, Schedule C (2026 Rates)
Hours per week: 40
