About Us
Woodward Foods Australia has been proudly supplying and distributing the finest quality beef and lamb across the country since 1888. As a premier meat processor, we are deeply committed to sustainable practices and bringing premium meat from pure Australian lands to our customers. While our primary abattoir and operations remain in Swan Hill, we rely on our busy distribution depots to deliver exceptional products to dinner tables nationwide.
Right now, we are looking for a dedicated, full-time Skilled Meat Worker to permanently join the boning room team at our Brisbane depot in Morningside, QLD 4170.
As an essential member of our processing floor, your daily tasks will be hands-on and fast-paced. You’ll step in to help us maintain our top-tier production standards by taking on a variety of duties. This includes:
Using your knife skills to safely and skillfully separate meat, fat, and tissue from the bone.
Portioning sides and quarters of meat into standard, market-ready cuts like rumps, flanks, and shoulders while making sure to trim away internal fat, bruises, and clots so the meat is perfect for packing.
Making sure everything meets our strict hygiene standards by washing, scraping, and perfectly trimming meat to remove any blood or foreign material.
Operating the switching controls to smoothly direct and drop carcasses and meat cuts from the supply rails right onto the boning tables.
Safely operating processing machinery, including bandsaws, to achieve precise cuts.
What You’ll Bring
We’re on the lookout for a reliable person who takes genuine pride in their work and knows the rhythm of a busy boning room. To hit the ground running with us, you’ll need at least one year of hands-on experience working as a boner, slicer, or skilled meat worker in a similar environment.
You should feel comfortable in a fast-paced, physical workplace and possess a steady hand when using processing tools and heavy machinery including proven experience operating a bandsaw safely. A strong eye for detail is vital, as you'll be ensuring our cuts meet the premium standards Woodward Foods is known for.
More than anything, you must be a great team player with a proactive mindset toward health and safety in the workplace. A solid grasp of strict hygiene rules, quality control, and hazard awareness is an absolute must to thrive in this role.
