An exciting opportunity awaits the right candidate to be part of a fast-growing company. Reporting to the Finance Director, the chief accountant will be responsible for all accounting activities. You will play a strategic role on the finance team that will help BrainBox AI continue to grow and you will participate on projects that will make a real impact.
A chief accountant has good knowledge of business cycles and accounting principles. You must be an organized professional with a great eye for detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
What you will do:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations including order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles
Supervise a team of 2 responsible for accounts payable and general accounting
Support customer contracts and customer invoices to ensure proper billing, sales tax application and revenue recognition according to US GAAP
Review and approve supplier invoices to ensure proper recording and alignment with delegation of authority
Maintain the general ledger by preparing, reviewing and posting journal entries and ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
Responsible of month-end close and to review supporting documentation and reconciliations performed by the team
Review and reconcile inter-company transactions and generate related invoices as necessary
Prepare and review various financial analysis for month-end / quarter-end and year-end financial reporting packages and respond to ad-hoc request from management in a timely fashion
Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and automation and assist management with ad-hoc projects
Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with other departments to optimize workflows and financial visibility
Collaborate with parent company and prepare requested documentations for internal and external audits and corporate tax activities, including tax credit claims and other subsidy claims
What you will bring:
- CPA certification required
- 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance function, including proven experience as an accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant
- In-depth understanding of US GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills, proficiency with rest of Microsoft Office suite and accounting software such as Oracle ideal.
- ERP/Accounting system implementation experience (an asset)
- Experience in a start-up and/or SaaS environment (an asset)
- Experience in a multi-jurisdiction / multi-company / multi-currency environment
- Experience with corporate level taxation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (French and English)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and attention to detail
- Team player with a positive attitude who promotes knowledge transfer among team members and works well in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and to ensure efficient and high-quality service to business partners
- Availability to work a minimum of 8 days / month from the Montreal office to support team training, operational effectiveness and cross-functional team collaboration
