Temporary Full Time

The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks department requires temporary full-time Litter Collectors for the summer season (starting in May until approximately November 2026). You will use hand tools to collect and dispose of litter and other debris from City streets, plazas, parks and other areas; empty litter containers and cleans sidewalks, gutters and other areas. You will also perform minor maintenance or report damage of litter containers and simple structures. There may be occasion when you will also need to pick up residential garbage missed by the regular solid waste crew. You will drive a light duty vehicle on an assigned route.
You will have some related experience and a good knowledge of City streets and geography. You have the ability to perform manual tasks under minimal supervision in all weather conditions, operate a vehicle and perform minor servicing tasks. You will also be available to work weekends. A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and the public are also required.
Salary:
$33.26 per hour
(January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work:
2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, Thursday to Monday
