Reporting to the Supervisor, Infrastructure and Networking, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a lead role in the administration and maintenance of network resources and will be responsible for the design, implementation and operation of the Local Area and Wide Area Network.
The incumbent will:
- Diagnose network connectivity problems
- Integrate new systems into existing network architecture
- Monitor network capacity and performance
- Repair network connectivity problems
- Install, test, maintain and replace network infrastructure (software and hardware)
- Research and evaluate current network products, technologies and standards
- Lead network projects
- Assess current network infrastructure for hardware or software deficiencies and advise management of preferred course of action
The successful applicant will possess:
- A three year diploma in a technology related discipline or
equivalent combination of education and experience- Experience with configuring and maintaining server and client operating systems, i.e. Microsoft Windows 10/11/2016/2019/2022
- Experience in installing, testing, maintaining and replacing Cisco routers, switches, and Wi-Fi
- Experience using network management tools to analyze network traffic patterns (e.g. simple network management protocol, protocol analysis)
- Knowledge of IP network communication protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VoIP, QoS, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, project management and troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve problems in a complex IT infrastructure
- A valid Class 'G' Driver's License and the use of a vehicle
- A demonstrated contribution to a workplace that values fairness and inclusion
Please note that the incumbent must be available to provide after-hours support by participating in a rotating standby schedule.
