Reporting to the Supervisor, GIS,
The incumbent will:
-Implement and maintain web GIS applications for Region departments, local-tier municipalities and the public
-Publish and administer web GIS services
-Install and configure enterprise GIS software and applications in server and desktop environments for Region users
-Manage user access to GIS data and coordinate with Security to ensure proper security protocols are in place
-Administer the Corporate GIS Data Warehouse and the Region's open data portal to provide GIS users across the Region with the ability to edit and share data
-Maintain key corporate datasets in the GIS Data Warehouse
-Provide GIS and related technical support, guidance and training to users, including requests for data or mapping products
-Liaise with departments to assess and identify how GIS technologies can be leveraged within the business unit and the corporation
-Gather requirements, research and recommend new and emerging technologies, software/tools, upgrades and best practices for Enterprise GIS solutions to ensure the Region maintains industry standards and applies the latest technology for GIS
-Provide technical expertise and conduct project management by defining scope and roles/responsibilities, identify stakeholders, assess risks and create schedules
The successful applicant will possess:
-A four-year degree in Geography, Computer Science or related discipline or
equivalent combination of education and experience-Expertise GIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, FME Desktop, QGIS)
-Expertise in enterprise GIS software (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Geocortex)
-Experience in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, JavaScript, XML, HTML, SQL Server
-Knowledge of GIS development, current web technologies, enterprise databases, security principles, data modeling (ETL), and data analytics
-Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
-Demonstrated project and time management skills
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to develop creative solutions
-Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
-A focus on consensus-building, and shared decision-making, where possible, as well as working collaboratively with diverse groups
