We are seeking a qualified individual to join our Victim Services team on an auxiliary basis.
About the RoleReporting to the Victim Services Coordinator, the Victim Services Caseworker will provide direct support services to victims and witnesses of crime and other forms of trauma. This will include crisis intervention support, emotional support, information and referrals, as well as follow-up and court support services. This position may assist with general office tasks, provide guidance to volunteers, and the maintain client files.
- Provide crisis Intervention Services (emotional support, referrals to community resources, information on justice system/ processes).
- Provide post incident follow-up with clients.
- Court orientation and accompaniment.
- Maintenance of client files documenting services provided.
- Provide support and guidance to volunteers.
- Afterhours on-call support.
Basic Qualifications:- Grade 12 supplemented by education in Victim Services, crisis intervention, or critical incident stress.
- One year of experience providing Police-based intervention services or other directly related experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the objectives and procedures of the Port Moody Police Department, Port Moody Police Victim Services, and the services available to victims of crime and other traumas.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in providing crisis intervention, including the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Clear understanding of the boundaries, limitations and safety standards in the provision of crisis intervention services.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with Police, municipal employees, volunteers, community services representatives, and members of the public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good judgment and ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to work non-standard hours of work as required.
- A valid BC Driver's License.
