About the opportunity:In this challenging position, you will play a key role in maintaining Prince George’s parks and playgrounds. You will provide leadership to operational staff engaged in landscape maintenance. The work also involves physical labour, equipment operation, landscaping, report writing, training, and customer service. This position works outdoors in all weather conditions and is subject to shift changes.
About your background:As the successful candidate, you have completed Grade 12 and have at least three years of experience working directly with park maintenance, along with at least one year of supervisory experience. You are skilled at operating a 72” mower and have a strong commitment to teamwork and safety. Level 1 First Aid is preferred or must have the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. You also have a basic understanding of the CSA Playground Structure Guidelines and can obtain certification within one year of hire. A valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or an equivalent from another province) is required. The successful applicant must also be able to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offenses related to the position. As a condition of employment, the incumbent must complete one course in a subject related to turf from an accredited post-secondary institution within one year of hire. Specifics: Following established safety protocol, the incumbent may be exposed to unpleasant waste materials and other biohazards in the course of their duties.
