Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce high-precision components, primarily for aerospace, nuclear, and medical device applications. You will interpret complex blueprints, apply GD&T principles, and perform basic troubleshooting on your own equipment. In addition to running your own machines, you will lead a team of machinists on the shop floor, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are consistently met.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations.
- Set up CNC mills and lathes independently, including tooling, workholding, offsets, and program selection.
- Operate CNC milling machines as the primary equipment, while also working with lathes and turning centers as required.
- Lead and mentor a team of 5 or more machinists while simultaneously operating your own machines.
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify dimensions.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and critical feature requirements.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments on CNC machines to resolve quality or performance issues.
- Work with G-code and M-code to understand and adjust CNC programs as needed for optimal performance.
- Machine components for aerospace, nuclear, and medical device applications in accordance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members and leadership to meet production targets and continuous improvement goals.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of CNC machinist experience.
- Hands-on experience with both milling and lathe operations.
- Minimum 5 years of consistent blueprint reading experience in previous roles.
- Proven experience applying GD&T in a production machining environment.
- Experience working within aerospace, nuclear, or medical device manufacturing environments.
- Ability to set up CNC mills and lathes independently, including tooling and workholding.
- Ability to perform basic CNC machine troubleshooting without supervision.
- Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Familiarity with G-codes and M-codes and how they relate to CNC machine operation.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills to effectively guide a group of machinists.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience on both mills and lathes increases eligibility for multiple roles within the shop.
- Formal machinist ticket or certification is an asset.
- CNC programming experience is a strong advantage.
- Experienced in precision machining for regulated industries such as aerospace, nuclear, or medical devices.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while leading others.

Work Environment
This position is based in a machine shop environment where approximately 70% of the equipment consists of brand-new machines. You will primarily work on CNC mills and lathes, using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. The role follows fixed afternoon or night shifts, Monday through Thursday. The afternoon (second) shift runs from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., and the night (third) shift runs from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The facility is clean, organized, and focused on producing high-precision components for demanding industries.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
