Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Level 3
Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Electrical Engineer to support and enhance our data center operations until at least December 2026. This role is vital in assisting our operational engineers and management teams in maintaining a culture of safety, security, and compliance. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to ensure the effective installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems within our facilities.
Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center operations.
- Collaborate with design, construction, and commissioning teams to test and validate electrical systems.
- Support 24x7x365 on-site data center operations and electrical infrastructure.
- Serve as a technical authority for on-site operations related to mission-critical electrical systems.
- Lead the establishment of operational procedures ensuring redundant electrical operations.
- Manage electrical infrastructure across data center campuses.
- Review and approve Method Statements of Work (MSOW) for contractors and vendors on site.
- Analyze the performance of equipment and lead emergency response with supervision.
- Author, review, and approve operational procedures for planned and corrective work.
- Provide on-call engineering escalation support and attend sites for unresolved incidents.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and compliance with security policies.
- Conduct daily operational readings of all electrical equipment.
- Oversee and execute operational procedures including UPS and system control panel maintenance.
- Demonstrate experience utilizing CSA Z462 in operational safety management.
- Review and interpret protective coordination and incident energy studies.
- Oversee maintenance and operation of fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Lead troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of instrument sensors and calibration.
- Experience with building and power management systems (BAS, EPMS).
Essential Skills
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license.
- Expert understanding of the Provincial Electrical Code and lock-out tag-out standards.
- Multi-year experience in data center, telecommunications, power plant, or utility-scale production.
- Experience with electrical systems in high availability environments such as data centers, refineries, or hospitals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-graduation work experience in technical fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience as an engineer in facility operations or field service engineering.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Work Environment
The position requires working Monday through Friday, during core business hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, entirely on-site. Candidates must provide their own Windows 11 compatible laptop and a cellular phone. Protective equipment, including lace-up steel or composite toe-boots, ANSI Z89 approved hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vests, and ear protection, is mandatory. A screening check and a Reliability Status screening from a Canadian government agency are required. Candidates must have five years of continuous residency in Canada and meet security clearance requirements.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr.
