Job Title: Data Science and Machine Learning Senior Specialist
Job Description
Join a Connected Vehicle Analytics Data Team that transforms large-scale vehicle telemetry into trusted, actionable insights that directly influence engineering decisions, product strategy, customer experience, and executive direction. In this Senior role, you sit at the intersection of analytics, data engineering, and business strategy, owning the full journey from validating raw connected vehicle data, to structuring and analyzing it, to clearly communicating insights that leaders can act on. You will partner with cross-functional teams, build robust data pipelines and models, and ensure high data quality while leveraging modern cloud and visualization technologies.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with vehicle embedded engineers, product owners, and technical product managers to understand how data is generated, instrumented, and interpreted within connected vehicle ecosystems.
- Translate loosely defined business problems into scalable, measurable data solutions that drive tangible business impact.
- Apply statistical methods such as hypothesis testing, correlation analysis, and regression modeling to validate assumptions and quantify relationships between vehicle signals and business outcomes.
- Act as a bridge between technical data teams, software developers, and non-technical data consumers, ensuring shared understanding and alignment.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using structured and semi-structured data sources in a production-grade environment.
- Develop statistical and analytical models using SQL, Python, or R to perform trend analysis, anomaly detection, and driver or vehicle behavior insights.
- Apply regression, time series analysis, and multivariate analysis to understand key drivers of system performance and customer experience.
- Work with high-volume, noisy telemetry data and ensure robust handling, processing, and analysis.
- Implement ETL and ELT workflows across diverse data types and ingestion protocols, including OAuth-based APIs.
- Investigate and validate upstream data quality before building analytical models to ensure reliable outputs.
- Perform root-cause analysis on data inconsistencies related to vehicle signal instrumentation and data flows.
- Establish monitoring and validation frameworks to ensure high data integrity, reliability, and trust in analytics.
- Collaborate with upstream system owners to resolve data lineage, signal mapping, and instrumentation issues.
- Design executive-ready dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
- Communicate complex technical findings in a clear, concise manner that emphasizes business impact and decision-making.
- Present analytical results during demos, business reviews, and executive briefings, adapting the message to different audiences.
- Develop and maintain data solutions using the GCP data analytics stack, including BigQuery, Dataflow, CloudSQL, DBT, Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler, and Artifact Registry.
- Deploy data pipelines and data-intensive applications using containerization technologies and Infrastructure as Code in a cloud environment.
- Support CI/CD processes for data-intensive cloud applications to ensure reliable, repeatable deployments.
- Work with user-based events and event architectures to derive insights from behavioral and telemetry data.
- Contribute to framework maintenance, documentation, and best practices for analytics, data quality, and pipeline development.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Contribute to web application development or Java/C# components when needed to support analytics and data products.
Essential Skills
- Fluent SQL skills for analyzing large volumes of data and building performant queries.
- Strong Python programming skills for data analysis, modeling, and pipeline development.
- 5+ years of programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Python or R.
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing data extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) processes with structured and semi-structured data.
- 5+ years of experience working with APIs, including OAuth-based mechanisms, to ingest and integrate external data sources.
- 5+ years of experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to build dashboards and reports.
- 2+ years of experience with GCP data analytics stack, including tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, CloudSQL, DBT, Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler, and Artifact Registry.
- Demonstrated ability to interrogate and validate data for quality assurance before building advanced data models.
- Proven ability to translate loosely defined business problems into feasible data solutions and present insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience working with user-based events and event-driven architectures.
- Experience deploying data pipelines or data-intensive applications to a cloud environment using containerization technologies and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with statistical methods such as hypothesis testing, correlation analysis, regression modeling, time series analysis, and multivariate analysis.
- Experience working with high-volume, noisy telemetry or similar large-scale data in a fast-paced, production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing data quality monitoring and validation frameworks.
- Experience performing root-cause analysis on data inconsistencies and instrumentation issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
- Experience building executive-ready dashboards and visualizations tailored to different audiences.
- Experience supporting CI/CD processes for data and analytics solutions.
- Experience in Java or C# development.
- Web application development experience.
- Familiarity with event architectures and user-event data for behavioral analytics.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams that include engineers, product owners, and technical product managers.
- Experience in machine learning or data science, particularly in applied analytics and modeling contexts.
