Job Description:
This position is responsible for managing the automotive transport logistics in the Ontario Market. Direct and monitor the performance, routing, scheduling, and day to day activities of 20-30 (and growing) commercial drivers. Quote rates for automotive transport within the region and to all points in Canada. Coordinate efficient movement of consigned vehicles to and from auto dealers, terminals and partner locations, in addition to OEM designated sites. Ensure cost effective use of assets and timely service for our clients / customers.
Job Responsibilities:
· Represent company in a professional and courteous manner by ensuring that all transportation requests are processed professionally and efficiently.
· Contact customers to determine vehicle availability and condition and efficiently schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
· Coordinate and direct the safe and efficient transportation of customer vehicles to and from the sites mostly in Canada.
· Arrange for pick-up and delivery of vehicles by our company drivers and Owner Operators within the standard timeframes prescribed by our accounts.
· Receive and route telephone and e-requests in a courteous and efficient manner to the appropriate personnel.
· Dispatch overflow work to 3rd party carrier network partners.
· Perform data entry and verify that transportation information is accurately recorded in the system.
· Perform various clerical and administrative duties relating to transportation pickups and deliveries.
· Determine outstanding pick-ups, compile data, and generate asset utilization data and account aging reports for the operations manager.
· Interact with customers and resolve problems that may occur in the transportation process.
· Assist with pick-up problems, including contacting the appropriate personnel to resolve concerns promptly.
· Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the related behaviors.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· 3 years of dispatching and clerical/administrative support experience required.
· 1 year of experience handling high volume phone calls required.
· Automotive transport experience and knowledge highly desired.
· Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
· Excellent communication and organization skills required.
· Competent computer software skills required, including Excel and database systems.
· Ability to use general office equipment (e.g., copier, etc.).
· Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
· Manual dexterity; ability to perform repetitive data entry tasks.
· Vision abilities required include close, distance, and depth perception.
