POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for an Auxiliary Inventory Clerk 2 to join our Training and Development Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Procurement and Asset Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and delivering the processes and procedures linked to ordering, maintaining, issuing, and accepting returns of inventory items, including uniforms and personal issue equipment, as well as providing related support. This role requires strong independent judgment, initiative, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate inventory records, conduct audits, and ensure accountability within a controlled inventory environment.
Schedule / Hours of Work
This is an on-site position and to be eligible for this auxiliary position, incumbents must have flexible availability and be able to commit to a minimum of two (2) shifts per month. Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays. Assigned shifts may be prescheduled or by call-in. While hours are not guaranteed, incumbents may be scheduled up to 35 hours per week based on operational needs and assignment availability. Please note, hours are subject to change in accordance with operational requirements and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers the ordering, safekeeping, maintenance, and movement (issuing and returns) of a variety of inventory items including but not limited to uniforms and personnel issue equipment.
- Reviews and inputs on inventory items and processes related to uniforms and standard personal issue equipment including vendor management.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels and a controlled inventory environment.
- Orders all applicable assets and inventory items.
- Records issuance, return and disposal of inventory items and conducts audits and reports or investigates discrepancies.
- Ensures inventory items are readily available and in working order.
- Completes data entry related to the work or utilizes a Clerk 2 to complete data entry depending on volumes.
- Tracks movement of inventory items.
- Sends inventory items for maintenance, dry cleaning, repairs, and servicing.
- Receives inventory items, handles recall notifications, and disposes of inventory items.
- Completes safety checks on inventory items.
- Liaises with staff, Surrey Police Service (SPS) sworn members, and external parties in relation to the work and responds to internal and external inquiries and requests for information.
- Prepares and maintains files, records, and documentation related to the work.
- Assists other staff in performing their duties.
- Provides input and recommendations regarding establishment and revision of methods and procedures and drafts new forms, procedures, and instructions.
- Participates in project teams related to the work.
- Prepares and maintains files, records and reports related to the work.
- Reviews and checks records and files for accuracy and completeness.
- Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by business and/or computer courses at post secondary level.
- Minimum of two years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- The salary range is $30.56/hour - $ 32.46/hour (pay grade 14) based on 2024 rates.
