Police Support Services at the RCMP Detachment requires auxiliary Crisis Intervention Workers. You will provide immediate crisis intervention assistance to victims, their families, and/or witnesses of trauma and/or crime. This includes cases such as sudden deaths, suicides, family disputes, domestic assaults, and assistance with next-of-kin notifications. You will also provide resources, community referrals, emotional support, files updates, and information on the criminal justice system to clients.
We are seeking candidates who can commit to consistent and reliable evening and overnight coverage during the week, as well as 24-hour coverage on weekends. The role includes a combination of on-call availability and scheduled in-office shifts. Dependable availability during these non-standard hours is essential to ensuring continuity of care and timely response to community needs. There may also be opportunities to provide occasional daytime shift coverage based on operational requirements. Services are delivered within the geographical area of North Vancouver.
You have a university degree in Criminology, Social Work or Psychology as well as training and experience in crisis intervention and victim support services, and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Additional requirements include:
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- Your own reliable transportation for which mileage remuneration will be provided.
- A declaration being free of conflicts of interest with other activities outside of crisis intervention employment (e.g. activities involving an overlap of client groups, working with offenders while working with victims of crime, etc.).
You will also be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
Salary:
$41.93 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
(Pay Grade 22 – January 2026 rates)

Auxiliary – hours will vary.
