Benefits to Working with Us: Dental care Extended health care Flexible schedule Life insurance Job Summary: The Mechanic (310T) performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of the Company's fleet resources. Primary Duties and Accountabilities: Conduct routine diagnostics and maintenance on all fleet assets; Perform required inspections per regulatory and industry specifications; Review and complete repairs per inspections reports provided by drivers; Road test vehicles and perform diagnostic tests on vehicle systems and components; Maintain a working knowledge of industry advances in the repair of systems, equipment & technology; Log work orders in TMW and maintain detailed and accurate reports of all work completed Monitor parts inventory and replenish as required according to departmental procedure; Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance undertakings; Coach, guide and provide technical oversight to Shop Apprentices; Maintain a safe and clean, productive and efficient work area; and, Perform other duties as assigned. Key Relationships: Mechanics & Apprentices Fleet Manager Drivers & Driver Services Team Warehouse Manager General Manager None. Role technical oversight of Apprentice Mechanics. Qualifications & Requirements: Three (3) to Five (5) years' trade experience with 310T certification; Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics; Comfortable coaching and/or mentoring apprentices within a registered apprentice program; Ability to work independently and in a team in a busy environment; Must possess tools appropriate for fleet maintenance; and, AZ licence and welding experience preferred; G class is required. Technology: Must be PC Literate, with mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and specific job-related software applications. Practical experience with TMS and XRS/Omnitracs is an asset. Working Conditions: Work is largely performed in a heavy equipment / shop environment, with a regular requirement to perform service repairs in the yard.
