Boarding Program and Well-Being Co-ordinator

The Boarding Program Co-ordinator leads a small family group of boarders as well as participates in routine supervision of all boarders in the program. The Boarding Program Co-ordinator will also provide consistent and relevant communication to parents, staff and all other groups associated with Boarding in partnership with the Dean of Boarding.
What You’ll Do:
- In conjunction with the Dean and Boarding Team Lead, supports the student leadership program by collaborating with the Boarding Staff, to develop initiatives and activities that foster leadership and student well-being
- Develops student well-being initiatives and activities that support the student leadership program, in collaboration with other Boarding staff members
- Monitors the delegated budget area for specific Boarding program activities in association with the Dean of Boarding
- Ensures Boarding Engagement tracker, Boarding Climate Survey and student well-being data gathered and analyzed and collaboratively plans appropriate responses
- Supports the Dean to establish and oversee boarding student activities (with well-being focus) outside of school hours, including activities such as identifying community service opportunities, social activities, events of interest to students and all weekend programming
- Oversees meals, bed times and room tidiness within the Boarding house as well as following precise lock-up procedures for the Boarding house each night, and operating alarms
- Administers and deals with minor medical concerns including the issuing and recording of basic medication
- Monitors and supports students’ academic, social, physical and emotional progress in an effective, non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to student diversity in the school community which promotes and preserves student and family autonomy, dignity, and rights
- Proactively communicates with parents and guardians to build supportive and trusting partnerships
- Ensures the Boarding Code of Conduct is familiar to students and staff, and when needed handles major and minor discipline issues, health issues, and other student concerns
- Acts as an active member of the defibrillator team, first responder to emergencies in the school and assists with regular Boarding Fire Drills in conjunction with other Boarding Staff
Who You Are:
- Relevant experience working with adolescents including social work, nursing, mental health environments, living/working in a residential or camping environment
- University degree/college diploma in a related area of discipline i.e. Child and Youth Studies, Education or Social Work preferred
- Understanding of the developmental stages of adolescent including their health and wellness needs
- Standard First Aid, CPR, AED, Mental Health First Aid
- Mandarin or Spanish would be beneficial
- Understands the importance of diversity in implementing an inclusive worldview paradigm
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
Living in Boarding at BSS:
- Full-time, 10.5 month live-in position
- Accommodation and meals are part of the compensation package. The apartment and meals are provided as a taxable benefit.

- Furnished apartment (suitable for one person only) within the Boarding School. We have guidelines on guests permitted when Boarding is in session due to the location of the apartment.
- Pets are not permitted.
- The Boarding Program Co-ordinator sleeps on-site when on duty (10 of the 14 days during each two-week period).
- Use of on-site fitness center and pool
- The schedule, prepared by the Dean of Boarding, is composed of various day/evening/overnight and weekend shifts. The Boarding Program Co-ordinator must remain available for days and weekends as scheduled and for emergency on-call support as noted on the schedule.
- Some planning, parent contact, and school/Boarding events fall outside the standard schedule, as do the start and end of year.
- Will be required to work school administrative days and/or holidays as part of standard schedule
- Attendance is required at all staff meetings
Salary: $50,000
