This position works in the FM Custodial Event Support organizational unit. This is supervisory work in directing the activities of a moderate sized group of subordinates engaged in janitorial and security work in Municipal parks, buildings and sites. The work involves supervising subordinates; scheduling workloads; participating in the selection of subordinate staff; under direction, assisting in a variety of administrative tasks; providing information to the public; resolving complaints and preparing and maintaining records and reports. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in the performance of day-to-day activities, but more complex or policy matters are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance on the basis of effectiveness of custodial services rendered. Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to the work such as time sheets, damage reports, complaints received and related items. Performs related work as required.
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related courses; considerable related experience including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in janitorial, custodial, and minor building repair and maintenance work Sound knowledge of departmental policies and procedures governing the work performed. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and review in the work of a moderate sized group of subordinates engaged in custodial duties and, as required, to participate in patrolling and custodial work; select, train and discipline subordinates; perform administrative duties under the direction of a supervisor; deal tactfully and effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts. Please note that a Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia and a Police Information Check are required for this position.
This is a Temporary Part Time position until September 30, 2027.
