Located on Vancouver Island just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is in the ancestral and unceded territories of First Nations including the Quw'utsun, Malahat, Ts'uubaa-asatx, Halalt, Penelakut, Stz'uminus, Lyackson, Pauquachin, Ditidaht, and Pacheedaht Nations. The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for the regular full-time Accounting Clerk III position in the Financial Operation Division within the Corporate Services Department.
General Information
Reporting to the Manager – Financial Operations, the Accounting Clerk III is responsible for providing support to Financial Operations. The primary responsibilities for this position are to provide varied and complex financial support services involving maintenance of the utilities master file, providing information to the public and other departments, reconciliation of sub ledgers, processing of accounts payable, maintaining/reconciling purchasing cards, generating reports, reconciliation of general ledger accounts and the processing and maintaining of accounts receivable accounts.
Qualifications
- Two-year diploma in business administration (or related) with a specialization in accounting from a recognized post-secondary educational institution.
- Two years related experience, preferably with Regional /Municipal Government.

Hours of Work: Guaranteed 35 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and eligible for flex time. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings.
Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the CVRD has a Work From Home program. This program allows staff to work remotely, with the number of remote days per week determined by operational requirements, from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a CVRD worksite. This position works from the CVRD's main office in Duncan, BC, and at this time, is eligible to be part of the Work From Home program, potentially working remotely from home 1-2 days per week after a successful in-office training period. Please note, this is not a fully remote opportunity – regular in-office presence is required.
Salary: Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $37.30 - $38.36 - $39.44 per hour (2025 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
