Scope
Are you passionate about the violin and enjoy teaching learners of all ages? Join the City of Surrey’s Culture Division and contribute to the innovation and growth of our arts community through your development and instruction of performing art courses and camps.
Clayton Community Arts is hiring Performing Arts Program Instructors to develop and instruct Violin lessons. Instructors will have opportunities to teach classes to preschool, children, youth and adult participants throughout the year, as well as take part in hands-on outreach community activities across Surrey.
Employment Status
Non-Union Instructor – Auxiliary.
Responsibilities
- Develop and submit detailed lesson plans and supply lists for each class, camp, or workshop.
- Set up and clean up teaching spaces before and after each class.
- Provide a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Deliver private violin lessons tailored to students’ abilities and goals.
Required skills include:
- Education and experience in violin instruction and music education.
- Able to assess age appropriateness of materials and modify lessons to meet student needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relational skills with both participants and staff.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Qualifications
We are looking for dynamic, creative leaders with strong classroom management skills and demonstrated knowledge of music and music education.
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree/diploma in Music, Performance, or a related field.
- Certification as an RCM Instructor, with a minimum completion of Level 10 RCM Education.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience and a solid understanding of musical pedagogy.
- A current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C and AED certificate.
