Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
As the Platform Tech Lead, Commercial Digital Banking, you will serve as the overall technical leader for a strategic, multi-workstream digital platform implementation. You will drive end-to-end technical delivery—from solution design through integration, testing, and go-live—ensuring alignment across internal teams, vendors, and enterprise architecture. Your focus will be on orchestrating complex technical workstreams, managing cross-system integrations, removing blockers, and ensuring quality delivery at scale.
This is a full-time, fully dedicated role based at Vancity head office. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed. You will be expected to lead hands-on and be deeply embedded in the project, with the ability to zoom out to E2E delivery strategy and zoom in to technical detail as required.
How You'll Make an Impact:
Technology Strategy & Delivery
- Own the overall technical direction and delivery for a complex, multi-workstream digital platform initiative
- Lead technical planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation across integrated workstreams (e.g., Core, Payments, Identity & Access Management, Data Migration, Observability)
- Serve as the single point of accountability for technical delivery, coordinating Solution Architects, Dev Leads, QA Leads, and integration teams
- Translate product requirements into technical execution plans; ensure solution designs are validated, dependencies identified, and delivery milestones are met
- Drive architecture decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards and security/compliance frameworks
Cross-Functional Coordination & Integration
- Coordinate technical delivery across multiple systems and platforms (e.g., T24/IRIS, CRM, Okta, Interac, payment orchestration layers)
- Partner with vendors and System Integration partners to align API contracts, integration patterns, and delivery timelines
- Chair technical leadership forums; facilitate issue resolution, decision-making, and escalation across workstreams
- Ensure integration points are clearly defined, tested, and monitored across all touchpoints
Team & Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor a team of technology professionals (business analysts, developers, system integrators)
- Manage relationships with external vendors, third-party service providers and internal IT teams; oversee contracts, SLAs and performance
- Ensure change management and user adoption are appropriately managed for commecial systems enhancements
End-to-End Quality & Delivery Assurance
- Partner with QA leadership to ensure robust test planning, environment readiness, and quality gates across all phases (functional, integration, performance, security)
- Monitor delivery health, track blockers, and proactively address risks before they impact milestones
- Drive technical operational readiness—ensuring observability, logging, monitoring, and L1-L3 support processes are defined and implemented
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a cross-functional team of technical professionals (Solution Architects, Dev Leads, Integration Leads, QA Leads)
- Partner closely with Program Management, Product Owners, and Business System Analysts to ensure technical delivery aligns with business priorities
- Communicate technical progress, risks, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure technical solutions meet enterprise security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with InfoSec, Architecture Review Boards (ARB), and Compliance to navigate gating milestones and audits
- Embed technical governance and change management practices into delivery processes
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent; MBA or Master’s in Finance/Technology is an asset
- 7+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-workstream platform implementations in enterprise environments
- Deep expertise in end-to-end solution delivery: requirements through design, build, integration, testing, and go-live
- Strong experience with system integration, API design, and working across diverse technology stacks (core banking, middleware, identity management, payment systems)
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical teams (Solution Architects, Developers, QA) and hold delivery accountability
- Experience managing vendor and System Integration partner relationships, including aligning contracts, SLAs, and delivery timelines
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, security frameworks, and regulatory/compliance requirements in financial services
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills—able to engage executives, business partners, and technical teams with equal effectiveness
- Comfortable operating in agile, fast-paced environments with ambiguity; able to make decisions, escalate appropriately, and drive resolution
- Experience with observability, logging, and operational readiness for production platforms is an asset

What You’ll Earn:
This role offers a salary range of$113,100 - $139,650 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
