Who you are
You are a detail-oriented and dependable professional who takes pride in providing a clean and safe environment. You enjoy working with people and demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills complemented by a strong sense of professionalism and a keen eye for detail. You are comfortable managing deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, and balancing multiple responsibilities in a busy airport setting. You bring hands-on experience cleaning in a business environment during operational hours. You confidently apply this knowledge to ensure a safe and clean environment for all persons using the facility.
What you’ll do
- Cleaning wood, tile, and linoleum flooring
- Vacuuming and shampooing carpeting and rugs
- Emptying all facility trash bins and disposing of trash
- Disinfecting surfaces, including offices, leased spaces, break rooms, and sanitizing restrooms
- Keeping an inventory of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and ordering them as needed
- Stocking vending machines ensuring freshness and ordering new stock as required
- Watering plants, washing windows, and laundering mop heads
- Unlocking and locking entrance doors and other security measures as required
- Keeping entrances and walkways clear of garbage, debris, and snow
- Reporting any facility deficiencies to management or maintenance staff to facilitate timely repairs
- Ensuring WHMIS guidelines are followed at all times
- Making sure the airport buildings are clean and meet all safety requirements
- Drive shuttle of passengers to and from ferry dock on the airport island
- Other duties and tasks as required or occasionally assigned by airport manager
What you’ll bring
- Ability to work independently
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Ability to keep an organized record of cleaning supply and vending machine inventory
- Have your own reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and ability to obtain a class 4 BC driver’s license
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Flexibility to work with team members or individually
- The ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours a day
- Able to effectively complete repetitive motion tasks including pushing, pulling, reaching, bending and lifting up to 25kgs
- Ability to obtain airport security clearance
- Grade 12 Education
- Current Standard First Aid and WHIMIS certificates considered an asset
- Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced and compliance-driven environment.
- A combination of relevant education, training, and demonstrated experience may be considered.
