The Police Support Services Department requires a regular full-time Reader to work in the Quality Assurance Section at the RCMP Detachment.
This municipal position performs specialized clerical work of a technical legal nature which involves reading occurrence files to ensure proper investigational procedures have been followed and evidentiary requirements are met. You will read occurrence files for investigational content and quality; recommend further investigational action; provide feedback and guidance to RCMP members and staff regarding policy, procedures, and system capabilities; ensure the completeness and validity of statistical coding; record and authorize the removal and addition of entries; analyze relevant criminal operation data; and prepare detailed analytical reports.
The successful applicant will have an understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada, thorough knowledge of investigational procedures and evidentiary requirements in conducting police investigations and the rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to maintaining RCMP files and records (PRIME/CPIC), along with the applicable statutes enforced by the RCMP. You will also have considerable experience using PRIME and other relevant police computer systems, as well with MS Office applications. Previous policing background in varied roles would be considered an asset.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
Salary:
$38.65 to $45.48 per hour
(Pay Grade 20 – January 2026 rates)
Hours of Work:
Any ten (10) consecutive hours, exclusive of a one hour unpaid meal break between the hours of 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Employees will be assigned to work four (4) consecutive shifts followed by three (3) consecutive days of rest.
