The Office of the Deputy CAO – Legal Services Division is looking for an exempt regular full-time or part-time Paralegal. Reporting to the City Solicitor, you will be responsible for preparing and processing a variety of legal documentation for a broad range of municipal legal matters, including land development transactions, leasing, contracts and governance. You will assist with routine and complex land development transactions such as major mixed-use high rises, phased developments, airspace and strata subdivions, heritage agreements, and other forms of urban land development. You will be required to conduct Land Title Office, Corporate Registry and BC Assessment searches and be experienced in land title forms and filing procedures. Under the supervision of the City Solicitor, you will draft, compile, review and process a variety of legal agreements and perform legal research.. You will exercise sound independent judgment in prioritizing and managing a varied workload across multiple practice areas in a fast-paced environment. You will have strong research, analytical, and drafting skills with meticulous attention to detail.
You will have completed a paralegal diploma program, with a minimum of 5 years of related paralegal experience in conveyancing procedures, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Familiarity with or experience in the Community Charter, Local Government Act, and municipal governance processes and Membership in the BC Paralegal Association are considered an asset. You must be detail-orientated, proactive and have the ability to multi-task as well as build and maintain strong working relationships by working collaboratively in a team setting. Considerable independent judgement is exercised in preparing documentsunder the supervision of the City Solicitor.
During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).
We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $85,020 to 100,008 annually - 2026 rates (pro-rated for part time position).
