Junior Construction Estimator Civil Construction
KLS Earthworks & Environmental is seeking aJunior Construction Estimatorto join our team in Calgary. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to build a career in civil construction estimating and gain hands-on experience in earthworks and underground construction within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Reporting to the Estimating team, the Junior Construction Estimator supports the preparation of accurate quantity take-offs and estimates while learning industry best practices from experienced professionals. This position plays an important role in supporting KLSs estimating function and offers strong development opportunities for someone eager to grow their technical and analytical skill set.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct 3D surfaces to determine earthworks quantities
- Complete quantity take-offs using tools such as Agtek, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD
- Reporting from Heavy Job
- Support the Estimating team with tender preparation and estimating deliverables
- Review drawings and documents to assist with scope understanding
- Assist with data analysis, quantity validation, and estimate support tasks
- Learn and apply estimating standards, processes, and safety requirements
- Collaborate with estimators and project teams as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Civil Engineering, Drafting & Design, Construction Estimating, or related program
- Experience with AI integrations, Heavy Job, AutoCAD Civil 3D or other 3D software considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work overtime as required during peak estimating periods
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
