Job Description: Production Supervisor
Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Director of Operations
Purpose of Role:
This individual will lead our Production team of skilled workers, who assembly Aerospace and Defense grade cable assemblies; wire harness assemblies; and electrical enclosure assemblies. The role is key to ensuring that the output of our production process meets all quality and schedule requirements while maintaining a safe and developmental work environment for each employee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of skilled Production personnel.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork.
- Foster a team culture focussed on exceptional consistency and compliance regarding cleanliness and organization; environment, health, safety, and security; quality; and schedule.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Identify training needs within the Production team to enhance individual employee and overall team development, skills, knowledge, compliance, and success.
- Organize, monitor, and prioritize tasks to meet production quality and schedule goals.
- Ensure the health and safety of employees through documented identification and highlighting of safety concerns for overall management action.
- Implement and enforce safety and security guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Training Team to schedule training and coaching for groups and individual members of the production team.
- Collaborate with Production Engineering; Quality; Planning; and other teams to develop, maintain, and improve/optimize the overall production process efficiency; process layout; individual work cell design; and production line balance.
- through the application of Lean Six Sigma principles to identify and eliminate waste (non-value added activities).
- Work with Supply Chain’s Procurement and Warehouse teams to improve the material flow and reduce inventory.
- Monitor production output at individual process stages to ensure quality compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Initiate production lead time and overall efficiency improvements based on output observations.
- Participate in and/or lead Production team process improvement projects based on the application of Lean-Six Sigma methodologies.

Qualifications and Skills:
The following qualifications and skills are considered essential to the role:
- 3–7 years of successful supervisory or equivalent de facto leadership experience (Production Engineering, Quality, etc.) in an AS9100 certified Aerospace and Defense electronics assembly/manufacturing or other highly standardized production assembly environment.
- Experience and proficiency in implementing team culture change, specifically toward a culture of consistently organized, safe, secure, and compliant methods, practices, and general activities that lead to output that consistently exceeds customer expectations.
- Experience and proficiency in the application of Lean Six Sigma principles in fostering continuous improvement in a manual production assembly environment.
- Experience and proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical/electrical design drawings for the purpose of assembling or explaining/documenting assembly requirements for trained assembly technicians.
- Experience and proficiency in following standard operating procedures and/or basic or detailed technical instructions.
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- The following qualifications and skills would be considered a definite asset in the role:
- Experience and proficiency in Aerospace and Defense related Cable and Wire Harness assembly.
- Experience and/or formal certification and execution as a Specialist (assembler), Instructor, Inspector, or Standard Specialist in IPC-610, IPC-612; J-Std-001; or similar.
- Experience as a harness and/or electromechanical product assembler.
- Lean-6-Sigma Certification (Yellow, Green, or Black Belt) or Certified Continuous Improvement Manager (CCIM).
- Experience with material requirements planning (MRP) systems.
- Experience in transition process from manual systems management to ERP systems management.
- Formal Project Management skill certification (PMP, etc.).
- A diploma or associate degree in a field related to electronic technology design, assembly, and/ or repair
- Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Degree in another Engineering discipline with significant related manufacturing experience in the Aerospace and Defence wire harness assembly industry sector.

- This role is approximately 25% office-based and 75% on Production floor.

English Language Requirement: This position requires English communication skills equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 or higher. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate this through valid results from an IRCC-approved English language test, such as IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, or PTE Core. This requirement is based on the communication duties of the position.
