Position Title: Community Service Worker

Reports To: Program Lead, Learning Academy
I. Scope and summary of primary responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Community Engagement, this position will assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of home-based support programs including the classic Vision Mate Program, Virtual Vision Mate Program, and other programming.
This position requires excellent customer service skills, sound judgment and diplomacy in dealing with staff, volunteers, and participants.
II. Essential functions
- Assists with coordination to onboard volunteers.
- Maintains and manages a database/tracking system of volunteer activity.
- Provides support to participants and volunteers on a regular basis.
- Assesses participants eligibility for Home Based Support Programs
- Participates as a fully integrated member of the Ontario West team with occasional travel within ONWE.
- Other duties as assigned.
III. Qualifications

- Proven knowledge and skills in the volunteer management and social services an asset.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to travel independently within the region via public transit or car (taxi, Uber etc.)
Work environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Occasional travel within the region
