About this position
The Chief Crew Scheduler is responsible for managing the overall functionality and performance of the Crew Scheduling department.
Please note, this is a temporary position ending approximately February 4, 2028.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all Crew Scheduling department personnel have safety as their primary objective by adhering to the Canadian North safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program in order to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization;
- Ensuring continual improvement through the periodic review of all processes;
- Ensuring crews are scheduled using the Collective Agreements to achieve optimum efficiency and in compliance with Transport Canada Regulations;
- Analysis of financial and operational results;
- Preparing the annual budget for Crew Scheduling;
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget for pilots and flight attendants;
- Preparing monthly crew efficiency reports;
- Continual analysis for efficiencies and cost reduction;
- Liaising with Finance and provide information regarding per diem records, crew payroll adjustments and other crew related issues;
- Participating in internal audits of the Crew Scheduling department;
- Continual analysis of Crew Accommodations, implementation and renewal of hotel contracts and rental car agreements;
- Liaising with Flight Operations and Inflight to regularly discuss scheduling issues;
- Liaise with CUPE and ALPA to provide information regarding scheduling decisions and the collective agreement; provide input to scheduling-related grievance proceedings and collective bargaining preparation;
- Addressing all crew issues/concerns such as formal complaints, scheduling irregularities and grievances;
- Managing the department's schedule, ensuring coverage at all times;
- Evaluating Crew Scheduler performance and addressing deficiencies as required. Reporting to the Director, Operational Control Center;
- Assisting Charter Sales with ADHOC charter operations in conjunction with Chief Duty Manager, Charter Operations and Chief Dispatcher, Operations;
- Ensuring that the reporting of accidents, incidents or hazards are reported appropriately and within a timely manner;
- Assisting with safety investigations;
- Conducting audits or assisting with audits;
- Conducting risk assessments and root cause investigation;
- Assisting in the development and monitoring of corrective action plans;
- Conducting workplace inspections as required by the Safety Department;
- Providing after hours and on call support for Crew Scheduling, in conjunction with the Assistant Chief Crew Scheduler;
- Providing back up for Crew Scheduling shift coverage, in conjunction with the Assistant Chief Crew Scheduler; and
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent related work experience
- Four (4) years of previous experience
- Knowledge of Company and Transport Canada Regulations governing air crews (including flight and duty time hours)
- Knowledge of pilot and flight attendant scheduling rules
- Completion of Instructional Techniques Workshop (ITW) preferred
- Flexibility to work irregular shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays for 24-hour coverage with on call as required
- Proficiency with Sabre and AIMS
- Must be proficient with Windows, Excel and Word
- Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must possess thorough working knowledge of Canadian North collective agreements
- Bilingualism - English/French an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and be adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to communicate in Inuktitut or other Indigenous language considered an asset
- Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
