Unit Summary:
THP is a Regional Cardiac Program providing services and care in collaboration with our Regional Partners. The 2J Cardiovascular Unit is a 36-bed unit focused on post operation care for cardiac and vascular surgery patients. This includes progression pathway and support education to discharge.
Position Summary:
- Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure high quality care
- Responsible for the provision of nursing care, teaching, and coaching patients and their families
- Responsible and accountable for the provision of nursing care in accordance with the standards of nursing practice and THP Best Practices Protocols
Qualifications:
THP is committed to internal talent, and therefore priority will be given to internal applicants.
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
- A current annual certificate of competency with the College of Nurses Ontario
- Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO
- Medication Certificate and experience with administration of medication within the last year required
- Previous experience working in an acute medical/surgical setting with sound patient care nursing skills (IV therapy, wound care, etc.) required
- Minimum 1 year experience in surgery required
- Recent cardio/vascular surgery experience preferred
- Current Coronary Care Level 1 Certificate or successful completion within six (6) months of hire required
- Current ECG Rhythm Interpretation Course or successful completion within twelve (12) months required
- Patient physical assessment course required
- Experience with patient centered and partnership care models
- Must have effective interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills
- Reliable and flexible individual who is willing to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment
- Positive attendance and work record essential
