Rosehill Wine Cellars is looking for an experienced Woodshop Production Manager to lead our woodshop team and oversee the production of premium custom wine cellars, wine racking, cabinetry, and furniture-grade millwork.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands fine woodworking, cabinetmaking, production flow, machinery, finishing standards, and the importance of delivering beautiful, high-quality work on schedule.
The ideal candidate is a skilled woodworker, a practical problem solver, and a strong shop leader who can keep people, materials, machines, and jobs moving efficiently.
About the Role
As Woodshop Production Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating all work in the shop, assigning tasks to team members, managing production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring that finished products meet Rosehill’s expectations for craftsmanship and visual appeal.
You will work closely with our design and project management teams to ensure that each project is built accurately, efficiently, and in line with the approved design intent. You will also provide feedback to the design department when you see opportunities to improve the production process, construction method, appearance, or efficiency of our wine racking and cabinetry.
This position requires someone who is comfortable leading from the front. You should be equally capable of managing the workflow, solving production issues, operating machinery, checking quality, and stepping in wherever needed to keep the shop running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, plan, schedule, and assign the daily flow of work throughout the woodshop.
- Coordinate shop labour, materials, machinery, and production timelines.
- Ensure products are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Take responsibility for the quality of all work leaving the shop.
- Inspect work throughout production to ensure it meets Rosehill’s standards for fit, finish, accuracy, and overall craftsmanship.
- Operate woodworking machinery as needed, including CNC equipment, edge bander, rip saw, moulder, and other shop tools.
- Perform or coordinate routine maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Manage shop inventory, materials, hardware, and production supplies.
- Act as the main liaison between the shop, design department, and project management team.
- Communicate any requested changes to the Project Manager and Designer before any deviation is made from the original approved design.
- Provide practical feedback to the design team on ways to improve production efficiency, assembly methods, material usage, and visual appeal.
- Identify opportunities to improve production flow, reduce waste, improve quality, and increase shop efficiency.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and productive shop environment.
- Lead, support, and motivate shop staff while holding the team accountable to quality and schedule expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate should have strong experience in:
- Cabinetmaking, millwork, or furniture-grade wood production.
- Custom woodworking and high-quality wood finishing.
- CNC operation and general woodworking machinery.
- Edge banding, panel processing, ripping, moulding, assembly, and finishing workflows.
- Modern production scheduling, job manufacturing, and shop workflow management.
- Reading and interpreting shop drawings, plans, cut lists, and design details.
- Managing people, assigning work, and keeping production moving.
- Troubleshooting production challenges in a practical, hands-on way.
- Maintaining machinery, tools, and shop equipment.
- Inventory control and material planning.
- Prior experience using scheduling tools, and general computer software common in the production space.
- Previous cabinet shop, millwork, furniture, or custom wood production experience is required.
- Prior leadership experience in a shop environment is strongly preferred.
The Right Fit
We are looking for someone who is:
- A hands-on leader who earns respect through skill, fairness, and follow-through.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple jobs at once.
- Quality-driven, with a strong eye for detail and craftsmanship.
- Comfortable balancing productivity with high-end finishing standards.
- A strong communicator who can work effectively with shop staff, designers, and project managers.
- Practical, resourceful, and able to solve problems before they slow down production.
- A team player who takes ownership of the shop’s performance.
- Experienced enough to know when a process can be improved and confident enough to suggest better ways of doing things.
