Our client, a company operating in the heavy industrial sector, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support growth across Western Canada. This role is focused on building strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding the company’s presence within industrial markets such as oil and gas, mining, power, cement, petrochemical, and related sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new accounts, growing existing customer relationships, and managing the full business development cycle from initial client engagement through proposal, negotiation, and project award. This position involves a significant amount of travel throughout Western Canada, including regular client meetings, site visits, and industry networking.
Key Job Functions
- Build relationships with new and existing industrial clients
- Identify new business opportunities across Western Canada
- Grow revenue through project, maintenance, and shutdown-related work
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and networking events
- Gather project details to support proposals and pricing
- Work with internal teams to prepare competitive client solutions
- Follow up on proposals, pricing, and commercial discussions
- Track active opportunities and keep leadership informed on client activity, market trends, and potential wins
- Share client feedback and competitor insight with leadership
- Help ensure a smooth handoff from sales discussions to project execution once work is awarded
Job Requirements:
- 5–10 years of business development or sales experience within heavy industrial services
- Background in industrial contracting, refractory, mechanical, maintenance, coatings, insulation, scaffolding, or related sectors
- Proven ability to develop new business and secure large industrial projects
- Strong knowledge of Western Canadian industrial markets and key client groups
- Strong understanding of proposals, pricing, contracts, and profit margins
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while partnering with internal operations and technical teams
- Comfortable managing a large territory with significant travel across Western Canada
