Reporting totheRegional Settlement Coordinator, theCommunity Service Workerwillmainly assisttheRegional Settlement Coordinatorin building community capacity for newcomers in the region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist theRegional Settlement Coordinatorin planning, developing, and implementing various cultural and recreational activities, projects, and programming to support newcomer integration
- Assistthe Community Connections Officer, as needed, in supporting community engagement and program delivery
- Assistwith the development of marketing and promotional materials, including informational brochures in hard copy, digital, electronic, and social media formats
- Assistin coordinating events and presentations to create awareness of programming designed to support newcomers
- Maintain regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers
Qualifications and Experience:
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse clients
- Efficient communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset
- Experience working with newcomer populations is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
- Hold a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and have legal authorization to work in Canada
- Bebetween 15 and 30 years of age at the start of theemployment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
- Must have own means of transportation
- Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RCMP
