Drafter / 3D MEP Modeler — Full TimeGraves Electrical | Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
About GravesGraves Electrical has been wiring Nova Scotia's most demanding projects for decades — from commercial fit-outs to large-scale industrial installations. We're a family-rooted company that runs on three things: doing the work right the first time, looking out for the person beside you, and taking ownership of the outcome. We're not the biggest shop around, and we don't want to be. We want to be the one our clients call when the job has to be done properly.
Our culture is straightforward: we hire good people, give them real responsibility, and back them up. We don't micromanage, but we do expect you to care. If you take pride in your craft, communicate honestly, and treat your coworkers like family — you'll fit right in.
The RoleWe're hiring a full-time Drafter to build 3D models of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) services and support our project teams from estimating through closeout. This is a hands-on, varied position — you won't be stuck doing one thing all day. You'll work closely with our estimators, project coordinators, and field crews, and your drawings will directly shape how our jobs get built.
What You'll Be Doing- Build accurate 3D models of MEP systems for active and upcoming projects
- Support the estimating team with takeoffs, layout drawings, and coordination markups during bid phase
- Produce red-line drawings to capture field changes and as-built conditions
- Assemble and assist with project closeout documents (as-builts, O&M manuals, record drawings)
- Coordinate with field coordinators and project managers to keep drawings aligned with site reality
- Flag clashes, constructability issues, and design gaps before they become field problems
What We're Looking For- Solid working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, or similar)
- Experience with electrical and/or MEP systems — formal training, trade background, or proven drafting experience all count
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs
- Comfortable communicating with field crews, estimators, and PMs — not just sitting behind a screen
- Self-managed work habits — you can prioritize, ask the right questions, and deliver on time
- A genuine interest in the trade and the people doing the work
Nice to Have- Background in the electrical trade (apprenticeship, journeyman experience, or technical diploma)
- Experience with closeout documentation and as-built workflows
- Familiarity with construction estimating processes
What We Offer- Full-time, permanent position based out of our Yarmouth office
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Benefits package
- Stable, long-term work with a company that's been around — and plans to stay around
- A team that has each other's back, and leadership that listens
- Real room to grow into bigger responsibility as you prove yourself
How to ApplySend your resume and a short note about why this role interests you to abourque@graveselectrical.com or info@graveselectrical.com. If you've got a portfolio or sample drawings you're proud of, include them — we'd rather see your work than read a list of software you've touched.
- Graves Electrical is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
