This position works in the Risk Management organizational unit. This is supervisory and administrative security and public contact work. The Security Lead is responsible for supervising, training and participating in the work of subordinates engaged in security work; following up on incident reports, performing risk assessments and inspections; providing input in security operations; preparing and maintaining a variety of reports and records. An employee of this class exercises considerable independence of judgment and action within established guidelines, referring unusual or complex matters to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of conformance with established procedures and effectiveness of services provided. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of grade 12 supplemented by a Basic Security Training (BST) Certificate (Justice Institute of BC or approved Security Training School), plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of security industry standards, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to plan, assign, schedule, supervise and review the work of a group of subordinates engaged in security work, and to hire, train and evaluate the work of such staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships and deal tactfully, effectively and courteously with staff, public, and law enforcement; perform risk assessments and inspections; prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence and files related to the work. A valid Security Worker Licence for the Province of British Columbia and Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
Schedule: 40 hours weekly; Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Shifts range from Monday to Sunday, 7:30 AM – 12:00 AM).
