JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centred care model, and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, works as a member of an integrated team and plays a significant role in ensuring that patients have a positive experience with the designated services within a fast paced, high volume operating room booking/pre-admission environment. Performs scheduling of patient pre-admission appointments and clerical functions in support of the delivery of patient care, including using a variety of computerized applications such as ORMIS, PHAMIS and LastWord, and intermediate wordprocessing and spreadsheet software as well as considerable tact and diplomacy. Duties include scheduling a variety of patient appointments, rearranging schedules to meet changing demands/requests, preparing and confirming patient information, maintaining patient charts, entering data into a variety of computerized information systems, compiling statistical information, and acting as a receptionist.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge & AbilitiesAbility to keyboard at 45 wpm.Knowledge of medical terminology.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
