Equipment Operator Labourer, Temporary Full Time (Four Positions Available):
Reporting to the Road Supervisor, the Equipment Operator/Labourer is responsible for driving trucks and operating heavy equipment in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and signs for the Dufferin County road system. This position is responsible for keeping the roads safe for commuters and the community in general (e.g., plowing winter roads, cleaning roads). This position also responds to inquiries from the public while out on the roads.
This is a fixed-term contract opportunity from November 9, 2026, through May 1, 2027.
The following scheduled time slots apply to the available positions:
(1) Weekday Day Shift: Monday to Friday,
3:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
(1) Weekday Evening Shift: Monday to Friday,
2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
(1) Weekend Day Shift: Thursday to Sunday,
3:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
(1) Weekend Evening Shift: Thursday to Sunday,
12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Equipment Operator Labourer- Patroller, Temporary Part Time (Two Positions Available):
Reporting to the Operations Working Foreperson, the Patroller is responsible for maintaining safe County roads, with a strong focus on winter operations. Key duties include patrolling roads in line with Ontario’s Minimum Maintenance Standards, monitoring weather and road conditions, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with police and provincial partners. The position dispatches and operates snowplows, loaders, and other equipment to clear snow, apply treatments, remove debris, and maintain drainage systems. Additional tasks include inspecting traffic signals and signage, issuing work orders, supporting road closures, and assisting at collision sites.
This is a fixed-term contract opportunity from November 1, 2026, through May 30, 2027.
The following scheduled time slots apply to the available positions:
- Temporary Full-Time Position: Monday to Friday, 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
