About this location: Uncover the Beauty of Rural and Remote Health Care Careers
Ashcroft is a historic village in the Thompson Country region of south-central B.C., known for its unique semi arid desert landscape-one of the only true desert climates in Canada-and its rich heritage as a former Cariboo Gold Rush and railway hub. With a population of roughly 1,670, Ashcroft sits along the Thompson River and offers a close knit community, mild winters, hot summers, and a distinctive setting often used in film productions due to its desert-like scenery. Today, Ashcroft blends historical charm with modern amenities, supported by local agriculture, mining, and tourism, while preserving its roots through heritage sites.
