Create detailed plans, system designs, and specifications to meet operational, technical, and safety requirements. Conduct and review impact assessments, system design modifications, system integration, and system performance engineering activities. System Safety and Quality Assurance: Maintain system safety in core air traffic management systems, ensuring high quality and accuracy throughout the software release process. Adhere to all applicable safety and quality standards and processes. Testing and Validation: Conduct system testing and validation activities to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards. Raise, triage, and manage defects as part of ongoing defect management activities. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with technologists, developers, and testers within an Agile software development environment to foster effective teamwork and information flow. Project Coordination and Planning: Support the team through planning and scheduling tasks, identifying work packages, and coordinating activities. Review recommendations and assessments, ensuring projects adhere to established processes and timelines. Job Requirements Education: Graduation from a recognized university with a specialization in computer, electrical or systems engineering, or computer science, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience: Minimum 3 years work experience in the planning, design and implementation of safety- or mission-critical systems. Experience in the interpretation of Operational Requirements and the development of Technical Specifications such as Software Requirements Specification and Interface Control Documents for large systems. Experience in carrying out system and/or network design. Experience investigating, analyzing, and resolving lifecycle problems. Experience in supervising technical work activities or leading engineering / technical project teams. Knowledge: Knowledge of systems engineering principles and methodologies. This includes knowledge of system requirements analysis, system design methodologies, configuration management, and system validation processes. Knowledge of system safety and regulatory standards. Knowledge of requirements management tools, problem tracking tools, configuration management tools and test management tools, such as IBM Jazz. Knowledge of industry trends and developments. Knowledge of networking, communication standards and protocols. Knowledge of Linux is considered an asset. Abilities: Ability to set priorities, to adapt to changing priorities, to work under minimal supervision, to coordinate the day-to-day activities of self and the team, and to handle multiple concurrent projects. Ability to plan, coordinate and conduct studies and investigations and develop software design changes to improve systems. Please note: In the event that a qualified candidate is not found at the PIPSC-3 level, a qualified candidate may be considered at PIPSC-2 level for one of the three positions. The successful candidate at PIPSC-2 level will be required to participate in a development program with an intent of progressing to the PIPSC-3 level through qualification at the end of the successful completion of the development program within a specified period. Candidates will be required to indicate, at the initial stage of the selection process, if they are interested in the PIPSC-2 development position. Participants in the development program will be expected to show commitment and satisfactory progress towards demonstrating the competencies associated with the PIPSC-3 level position throughout the development program.
