The YMCA of Three Rivers is seeking a Vice President, Health & Wellness (H&W) with a passion and deep commitment to building connected, thriving and shining communities in the regions we serve. This role has accountability for the strategic and operational plans for a complex group of programs and services across our multi-site operations. The position is responsible for the development and enhancement of relationships across our diverse regions, to elevate our Health and Wellness operational programming that serves a membership base of over 16,000+ participants.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Vice President will contribute to the development and execution of a strategic plan. This role will be responsible for the planning and the achievement of strategic outcomes and bring insight into factors affecting the workforce, and the people we serve. Through leveraging connections, the VP will support growing our service offerings, partnership pathways, and increasing impact for our programming and participant experiences. This position will also oversee and manage annual budgeting, regular forecasting and reporting to partners, community funders and donors, as required. As an active community partner, the Vice President will work alongside senior leadership and community partners to increase understanding of the challenges impacting our community participants, and advocate ways to grow our service offerings, program participation and experiences, while seeking opportunities to unlock revenue growth potential to serve our community better.
Through a people-first lens and a deep commitment to JAIDE (justice, access, inclusion, diversity and equity) and Well-being, the Vice President will lead and partner closely with a team of operational leaders. Another key area of focus in this role will be providing leadership guidance and coaching to operational leaders on a range of areas related to performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, training, compensation and creating a healthy organizational culture to meet our objectives in JAIDE, Well-being, operational and participant experiences. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Excellence:
- Supports the development, execution and delivery of the strategic plan and all H&W operational milestones. Assumes accountability for the development, implementation and evaluation of the key priorities (include setting annual targets, shaping the work environment, allocating resources, and overseeing complex operations).
- Leads all budget planning and operational excellence tracking for the service delivery areas across Health and Wellness.
- Identifies opportunities for creative development of systems and processes towards improved efficiency and effectiveness of operations to enhance participant experience standards.
- In partnership with the COO, reports monthly, quarterly and annually to the Board of Directors regarding the strategic plan and operational excellence oversights.
- Oversees capital and asset management requirements, including annual budget development, maintaining service standards, participant and employee experiences, and ensuring safety throughout audits and annual upgrades.
- Responsible for budget management including revenue, program expenses, capital investment strategies and future evolvement, assets and strategic projects.
- Oversees the annual budgeting, forecasting and reporting to municipal, provincial, federal and community funders and donors, as required.
Participant and Program Experience:
- Partners with direct reports and other service areas to plan and organize new programs.
- Provides leadership team responsibilities and accountability for managing escalated participant incidents and complaints. May need to be available on-call regularly to support operational requirements on evenings and weekends, in alignment with site operations.
- Working in partnership with the Marketing and Communications, liaises with key media promotions and escalated incidents.
- Brings insight into factors affecting community programs, the people we service, and our workforce, leveraging the intersectionality of current connections and services to grow service offerings and increase or diversify the impact for our participant experiences and communities.
Program Delivery and Partnerships:
- Builds and enhances relationships with partners with community careholders and corporate partners across various levels, positions the YMCA as a leader in elevating and uplifting community needs. Leverages experience to influence funding, donor and municipal partnership opportunities.
- Provides oversight for H&W operational leadership and employee teams to support the achievement of philanthropic (financial and volunteer) targets.
- Sets and achieves fundraising goals for H&W in partnership with our Philanthropy team and stewards donor and volunteer experiences.
- Supports our People & Culture team around recruitment, training, supervision, recognition, and retention, in connection with our Member Experiences.
- Ensures the delivery of high-quality programs in accordance with legislative requirements, YMCA policies and practices, and government and/or funding agreements.
- Collaborates with government and community partners to increase understanding of challenges and factors impacting our community and service systems, advocates for funding and partnerships to improve collective impact.
- Researches trends and developments and formulates proactive strategies to achieve the YMCA vision, embracing and enabling the highest potential of both the Association and members.
People Leadership:
- Provides leadership guidance and coaching to operational leaders on a wide range of areas related to performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, training, compensation and creating a healthy organizational culture in partnership with the People & Culture team.
- Leads and partners with a team of operational leaders to align practices, programs and policies to support the release of a newly formed strategic plan to mobilize activation and engagement.
- Provides leadership oversight and strength to empower a high-impacting teams to keep a people-first JAIDE lens on all areas of our culture.
- Builds a strong equity and accountability framework to inspire, engage, and motivate a collaborative, evolving and relational culture.
What You Need to Succeed
- A commitment to the YMCA's mission, vision and values and Strategic plan.
- Ability to build a culture of accountability rooted in the health, safety and well-being of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting to Child Protection Services.
- Ability to travel between our regional sites and provide daily in-person presence at all operational locations.
- Regular engagement and interaction with our community to develop rapport and healthy relationships both internally and externally through a people-first, JAIDE and Well-being lens.
- Collaboration with senior leaders to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach with the YMCA's various care-holders.
- Collaboration with other leaders and People Team to align our people practices across the regions we serve.
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Advanced post-secondary education or equivalent experience with an ongoing commitment to learning and development.
- Critical skills in capital and financial asset management and project and change management.
- Knowledge of funding structures and impact of changing government priorities for program delivery.
- Leadership experiences in complex, multi-site operations focused on delivering community programs and services through innovative and creative pathways.
- Commitment to our JAIDE (Justice, Access, Inclusion, Diversity & Equity) and Well-being work with experience as an ally, learning and acting to implement equity-focused initiatives that address systemic barriers.
