The Food and Beverage Manager oversees all operations of licensed properties including (but not limited to) The Docks Container Lounge, AREA 506 Festival and Boxcar Country Festival.
This role includes inventory control, staffing and scheduling, vendor relations, promotions, and drives new opportunities for growth. A critical team member that is closely involved in planning, events, sponsorship and operations, this role is designed for a self-starter who is focused on continuous improvement, pays attention to detail, and believes that event experiences are elevated through great food and drink.
This role is seasonal with annual review, tentatively scheduled to start in April until November each year.
Responsibilities
- Overall management of The Docks Container Lounge including scheduling, recruitment, staffing, training,
inventory control and purchasing, supplier relations, pricing and promotional activity
- Overall management of all bar locations for festival properties, including but not limited to AREA 506 Festival
and Boxcar Country Festival
- Management of additional licensed events as assigned
- Management and oversight of bar tokens including storage, distribution and accounting
- Management of The Docks budget, including office and bar supplies, printing, and marketing
- Attendance and active participation in appropriate team meetings
- Development and delivery of regular performance reporting for both internal and external stakeholders
- Procurement, setup and training for The Docks POS system
- Work with operations, finance and marketing on future improvements, design changes and
infrastructure/furniture for licensed properties
- Work with partnership team to ensure fulfillment of sponsor and supplier obligations, including leading the
process on deals specific to The Docks Container Lounge
- Work with retail and marketing teams to ensure a strong offering of branded merchandise
- Work with finance team to develop reporting for daily deposits, float, and weekly revenue tracking
- Work with marketing team to build The Docks Container Lounge social media properties, and inform content
plans that communicate bar activities, promotions, partnerships and specials
- Work with venue rental partners on details and sponsorship obligations, including setup and operation of any
extended bar opportunities
- Identification of new opportunities for licensed properties
- Support team with major events as-needed
- Participate and support facilitation of annual planning sessions with AREA 506 team
- Attend one professional development program in a related subject area per year
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree – Business, sales, management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years work experience, preferably in a management capacity with a licensed establishment
- Experience working in events an asset
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Team player, thrives in a collaborative environment
- Proficient with productivity software
- Trustworthy, able to maintain strict confidentiality
