Note: While this is a remote role, there is a need to come into the office occasionally for meetings or business needs. Our Office is located near Dufferin & Sheppard and is transit accessible.
The Financial Analyst reports to the Manager, Finance and is responsible for accurate and timely reporting, forecasting and relevant analysis to support positive business results. Month-end responsibilities are also required which include journal entries, along with variance analysis with appropriate commentary. The Financial Analyst will interact extensively with functional areas of the business such as merchandising, operations and accounting. The position requires someone who is system savvy, has tremendous attention to detail, an analytical mindset, and has advanced Excel skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Responsibilities:
- Business reporting ranging from daily to quarterly in frequency, primarily focusing on sales and gross margin.
- Financial reporting, including supporting schedules for quarterly and annual reporting
- Articulating business results with concise and effective commentary
- Month end close entries
- Forecasting & budgeting of various PnL line items, which include sales (including all associated selling metrics), logistics, and marketing.
- Communicate drivers of changes within actuals, budgets and forecasts
- Develop and enhance current forecasting models to drive both forecasting accuracy and business improvements
- Collaborating with business partners on alignment of forecasts and budgets
- Ad hoc business and financial reporting & analysis
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in finance or accounting required
- Pursuing an accounting designation preferred (CPA)
- 3+ years working experience in an analytical role
- Must be detail oriented to ensure accuracy of financial reports
- Ability to troubleshoot data inconsistencies and validate accuracy of reporting
- Quick learner who is comfortable using various business intelligence tools and software to extract data
- Experience with month-end close, inclusive of journal entries
- Experience preparing variance analysis and adding commentary.
The successful candidate requires advanced excel skills:
- Critical to understand how and when to use SUMIFS, VLOOKUPS, PIVOT Tables, and INDEX MATCH functions to navigate large sets of data for financial reporting
- Ability to use above functions to capture, summarize, and analyze large volume of data
- Ability to amend existing formulas for any changes in data
- Working knowledge of macros would be an asset, but not necessary
- Ability to work with very large spreadsheets (large volume of data)
