Position Overview
Custom Pharmacy Solutions is seeking an experienced Sterile Compounding Technician to support our growing sterile compounding department. Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager and Designated Manager, this role performs day-to-day sterile compounding and cleanroom activities ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSterile Compounding & Aseptic Technique
- Prepare sterile compounded medications following SOPs, aseptic technique, NAPRA standards, and Health Canada guidance
- Perform sterile admixing for injectables
- Compound both batch and patient-specific sterile preparations
- Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and verification procedures
Cleanroom & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain cleanroom integrity through proper garbing, hood cleaning, and environmental monitoring procedures
- Operate and maintain sterile compounding equipment
- Assist in environmental controls, pressure differentials, and routine cleanroom monitoring
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Complete all batch records, logs, and compounding worksheets accurately
- Report deviations, incidents, or equipment issues to the supervising pharmacist/manager
- Support continuous improvement in sterile workflow and compliance
- Follow USP <795>, <797>, <800> and NAPRA standards at all times
Operational Support
- Manage sterile ingredient and supply inventory
- Assist pharmacists and QA personnel with verification and quality checks
- Maintain workflow efficiency and ensure timely completion of sterile orders
QualificationsRequired
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the OCP
- Minimum 1 year of experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding in a sterile compounding facility, hospital pharmacy, or specialty compounding center
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile workflow
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment
- Knowledge of USP <797>, <800>, <795>, NAPRA standards, and sterile compounding requirements
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with multiple priorities
Assets (Preferred)
- Compounding training or certification from PCCA, Medisca, or equivalent
