You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust risk measurement and monitoring frameworks from inception, while providing independent review and challenge of Treasury strategies and activities.
This role reports directly to the VP, Risk Management – Finance & Treasury (RMFT) and is foundational to the development of Vancity’s newly established Finance & Treasury Risk function. This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office. While the position supports a hybrid work arrangement, you will be required to attend in-person meetings, events, and collaborative sessions as part of building a new functional area in Vancity’s Risk Management function.
How You'll Make an Impact:

- Leading and developing a team of Treasury Risk Management analysts, fostering a collaborative culture aligned with Vancity’s values
- Monitoring and validating hedge accounting processes, including hedge effectiveness testing and documentation
- Providing compliance and portfolio risk oversight for Treasury investment portfolios, ensuring adherence to investment policies and risk limits
- Overseeing the development and validation of Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) methodologies and frameworks
- Monitoring trading and portfolio management activities for compliance with risk appetite and limits
- Conducting counterparty risk assessments, including approval, monitoring, and limit setting
- Providing independent review and challenge of Treasury pricing, trading, and investment strategies, balancing financial sustainability with Vancity’s community mission
- Preparing independent second-line reporting and insights for ALCO, senior leadership, and regulatory submissions
- Collaborating with Finance and Treasury to ensure alignment between risk oversight and business strategy
- Influencing risk culture across the organization through partnership, transparency, and thought leadership
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are strong assets
- 8-10+ years of progressive experience in Treasury, Market Risk, or Financial Risk Management roles within a regulated financial institution
- Deep expertise in asset-liability management (ALM) and balance sheet risk, including liquidity, IRRBB, and capital management frameworks
- Strong knowledge of regulatory expectations (OSFI, BCFSA, Basel III) and experience developing compliant risk frameworks and governance structures
- Proven ability to interpret and challenge complex risk methodologies and to translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams, fostering inclusion, collaboration, and accountability
- A proactive, values-driven mindset with a commitment to integrity, inclusion, and prudent risk management
You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:
- Strategic and forward-thinking – You see the big picture and anticipate emerging risks, connecting dots across Treasury, Finance, and enterprise priorities.
- Analytical and disciplined – You apply rigor to financial and risk analysis, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and sound judgment in every recommendation.
- Collaborative and influential – You build trusted relationships across functions, guiding decisions through expertise, transparency, and partnership.
We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.
