The Opportunity
Hays Recruitment is working with a respected electrical contracting firm in Western Canada to identify an experienced Electrical Estimator . This role is ideal for professionals who thrive on complex projects, enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, and want to contribute to shaping major infrastructure across the region.
You’ll be joining a contractor known for delivering innovative electrical solutions across industries such as healthcare, education, transportation, commercial development, and large-scale residential projects.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Review drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
- Develop proposals for projects ranging from mid-size builds to multi-million-dollar developments
- Provide input into labour and material databases to strengthen future bids
- Identify efficiencies and recommend improvements in estimating practices
- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish indirect costs and overheads
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to team development
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 7 years of experience estimating electrical construction projects across multiple sectors
- Background in electrical trade or professional designation (AScT, E.I.T., P.Eng.)
- Strong knowledge of tendering processes, bid regulations, and electrical sub-trades
- Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid and LiveCount
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or BIM is an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build relationships
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience preferred

Compensation
Salary range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually , plus a competitive benefits and incentive package.
