Compensation
The hourly wage for this role starts at $27.43/hr.
Working Hours and Schedule
- Part-time, 30 hours per week, with potential for full-time.
- Rotational shifts from Monday to Saturday, typically 08:30–17:00.
- Schedules are provided two weeks in advance.

Job Summary and Purpose
The role primarily involves assessing applicants’ driving skills for G2, G, and—where qualified—M2, M, and controlled class licenses. Duties include grading road tests, providing license information, addressing licensing issues, and ensuring fair and supportive examination conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering excellent customer service throughout all Driver Examination Services.
- Responding to enquiries related to driver licensing, determining the applicant's current status, and providing information on testing and re-testing procedures, as well as on different license classes.
- Verifying candidates by verbally confirming their full name and full date of birth.
- Conducting road tests to assess applicants' skills in vehicle mechanics and handling, compliance with traffic laws and regulations, ability to cope with stressful situations, and adherence to safe driving practices.
- Providing examination results, detailing errors, and identifying areas for improvement to candidates.
- Completing evaluation forms to document road test assessments.
- Travelling to various locations as needed to offer testing and licensing services.
- For M2, M, and controlled class tests, observing and evaluating riding habits, skills, and demonstrated ability in vehicle operation.
- Conducting road tests for candidates with special needs or disabilities, ensuring fair assessment for all applicants.
Job Requirements
- Fluency in both French and English is essential.
- A minimum of a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or high school diploma is required.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
- At least four years of driving experience, as verified by the "date first licenced" on the Ontario driver’s licence.
- No more than four demerit points and three violations at any time during employment as a Driver Examiner.
- Intermediate computer skills are required.
- A minimum of one year of experience, including demonstrated excellence in customer service.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult and complex situations effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the relevant sections of the Highway Traffic Act, associated regulations and legislation, and related government and company policies to provide accurate information and guidance to applicants.
- Understanding of driving and assessment concepts, including the theory of driving behaviour, hazard perception, accident-avoidance techniques, and the standards and requirements of driving tests.
